We miss Stephanie and Bart
At this moment we are sitting in a movie theater waiting to see a movie. Stephanie and Bart aren't with us and we miss them. Sad day.

Color Run 2013
We had the Color Run on the 26th. It had rained for a few days before... and it was raining the day of.
It was a little cold; about 55 degrees. We still had a great time!
We were dressing warm for the run!
These were all before the race. We were getting rained on.
The picture of Stephanie, Bart, and I was almost at the end of the run.
I had that lovely blue all over me thanks to Stephanie. Then she biffed it right after that. So we're even.
Another race finished, time for Crackers!!
I'm not sure what I was doing here but Bart thought this picture was pretty funny.
For some reason we thought it would be fun to all jump up and down and get pictures of it. There are more than this one, but whether it was a good idea or not the picture is funny.

Oh Goodness
I decided I should try and update this thinking I'm not too far behind, but when I look and see Lights on Bikes as the last part I feel really far behind.
I don't recall anything super fun happening for New Years or anything. My birthday was on the 3rd. It was anti-climatic compared to last year. Last year was so fun.
We did have a good time one night at Stephanies.
I must have been going through a major cake phase or something because I decided to attack this large cupcake with no hands. Let me tell you it is hard to breathe, chew, and laugh at the same time with cake up your nose. There is video but only a handful of people will ever see it.
A small miracle also occurred at this time.
I have been trying to win Taylor over for about 4 years. On this day she came and sat down on my lap. Luckily I had my phone so I could get a picture!
We also made a big decision about this time.
It may be a little hard to read but this is the itinerary for our cruise!! The four of us (and anyone else who wants to) are going on a cruise in May! We're pretty excited about it. We even have our "if our boat gets stranded" plans in place.
So let's see, my birthday was the first weekend of January and I know Stephanie and I went shopping at the new outlet in Glendale. The next weekend I feel like something happened but I can't remember what so it must not have been too cool. The following weekend was the holiday weekend and I remember I was sick in there.
We went to Barrett Jackson one weekend. Luckily it was a gorgeous weekend. I was walking around in a tank top! We had a good time and love Aunt Viv and Uncle Bob for the tickets.
We had about a week of really cold weather. I think it was after Barrett Jackson. I got this screen shot one morning.
Yep, we weren't that cold but it felt like it!! I feel quite positive that this occurred during the cold spell.
And in random stuff:
Did you know there is a Mexican Peanuts character? He's part Swedish and part Mexican (random) and his name is Jose Peterson.
There is actually a Kit Kat cake (it should be Kake). After what I'm sure was a strange string of events we found this and it turned into a challenge for me to make one (more on that later).
And last, Nick and I decided to start a 100 mile challenge. Run 100 miles between Jan 1 and May 8. Yes, I have a countdown at work.
So that takes us to about the 20th of January. I'll continue that in my next posts!!

Fad??
So this is out of order but I want to write it down before I forget. John and I have been going to the gym in the morning before work for probably about a year. With the cruise coming up we've upped it to twice a day (about 3 times a week). We also have a pre-workout drink, post workout protein shake, and then a smoothie. I do the smoothie somewhat as a meal replacement and also to increase my protein intake. Generally the smoothie has a little almond milk, ice, banana, protein powder, and then a combination of fresh and/or frozen fruit.
Well, about a month ago I got involved in a debate about juicing. I was so not into it. This discussion continued for quite some time until we could agree that I was using smoothies for an entirely different reason than this person was juicing. Agreeing that both had a good purpose I started to think about juicing.
Somewhere along the way I bought in. We went and bough a juicer and a bunch of fruits and veggies and went at it.

I can say this. We have gone from maybe and that's a strong MAYBE 1-2 servings of veggies a day to:
Day 1 - one lemon, one apple, two carrots, two red peppers, two handfuls of lettuce, one cucumber. I felt the dominant tast was cucumber and lemon.
Day 2 - one orange, one apple, one carrot, one cucumber, one lime, two stocks of kale, one bunch of lettuce. I thought it smelled like cucumber and tasted like orange
Day 3 - One apple, one grapefruit, lettuce, kale, one cucumber, one lemon, two carrots. I thought this one tasted more bitter and it had a lot of kale so grassy.
Day 4 - two beets, two stalks of celery, one apple, one orange, one lime, one lemon, handful of kale. I thought this one tasted like lemon and beet.
So....that's a very big increase in fruit and veggie consumption for us. Jury is still out and what or any changes, but I'm liking it so far.

2012
So that last post pretty much brought us up to the weekend before Christmas.
For Christmas we had planned to have everyone over on Christmas Eve. We did the standard prime rib dinner and presents. I had an 11 1/2 pound rib and it turned out good but took way longer to cook than I anticipated. I think I've figured out my game plan for prime rib from here out.
I didn't get any pictures from that night, but we had us, John's parents, Stephanie and Bart, and Nick's family all here.
Christmas day we didn't really do anything. BUT because Stephanie and Bart gave John Apple TV and my parents gave him a year of Netflix we were able to start catching up on Sons of Anarchy!!!
We had started watching it this season and we were able to go back and catch up. I think we spent a good 4 days just watching it.
But of course on Christmas Day night we didn't just sit and watch TV because it was Lights on Bikes time!!! This year it was the four originals and Bart's brother and wife (Brendon and Lynn). In some ways we planned better and in others we didn't. Like we've decided we really have to take music but we mapped our route first and I think that was better too. We went about 11.5 miles so it was a good ride.
I really thought we did a better job at hiding stuff at Stephanie and Bart's but they found it pretty quickly.
That pretty much finishes up the year!! We didn't do anything on New Year's eve; although we did stay up past midnight (because we were watching Sons)!!

Team Builder
My team at work got an approved long lunch/team builder to finish the year. There were some pretty good bets being thrown out about who has the most skills so we ended up at Dave and Busters. I will say that 4 person air hockey is definitely the most dangerous.
We were getting ready to leave and I had some money left on my play card and I was trying to burn through it as fast as I could. I went to one of those crane games with the giant toys. I hate to say it, but I am good at them. Needless to say, I was pretty excited when I won something and got to take him back to work. We had a fun rest of the afternoon.
Coincidentally I had taped a show I've never watched or even heard of because Chris Mann was going to be on it. It's some show on the Hallmark channel. Anyways, they happened to show a Christmas ornament that I really need to have.
It's Edward and Bella from Twilight.
I also got some exciting news! I've been waiting for this musician to do a tour or date in Phoenix, but he's British and I didn't know how long I'd have to wait. Well, he announced a tour and his last stop is here!! So we have our tickets and I can't wait to go!!
In an earlier post I mentioned that I made a pretty awesome wreath for myself. Below are the pictures from it. Back story is that my grandma makes a quilt for every grandchild for their wedding. They pretty much have the choice of two types of quilt. When I got married I chose one option and I love that blanket. However, a few years after we got married I kindof started to want the other kind. Grandma said she couldn't make it for me because that wouldn't be fair, but I guilted her into it!! So I picked out all the fabric and she made me this quilt that I love. I love it so much I don't get it out because I don't want anyone to touch it. But I found the scraps from it and used them in my wreath!!
